Dan Staley 36, a former Lotte Giants foreign pitcher who played for Triple-A Iowa Cubs under the Chicago Cubs this season, was notified of his release.

"Iowa Cubs released Strayley and Kyle McGowin." Strayley, who signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in April, left a poor record of 1-7 with a 5.49 ERA in 17 games.

Strayley pitched in 31 games 194 ⅔ innings for the Lotte Giants in 2020 with 15 wins, 4 losses, 205 strikeouts, and a 2.50 ERA, ranking first in strikeouts, second in ERA, and tied for third in multiple wins.

He was not just good at baseball. Strayley played the role of mood maker for the dugout with various cheering tools including the Kim Joon-tae t-shirt.
Strayley, who took the mound 31 times in 2021 and had 10 wins, 12 losses and a 4.07 ERA, refused to renew his contract with Lotte and tried again in the Major League.

However, Strayley's major league challenge was tough and he re-worn his Lotte jersey as a substitute for Glenn Sparkman in August 2022.

After returning to Lotte, Strayley expressed his strong ambition, saying, "I came back to enter the fall baseball with Lee Dae-ho for his retirement season."

Strayley left a comprehensive performance with 4 wins, 2 losses and a 2.31 ERA in 11 games, but failed to achieve his goal to advance to the postseason with Lee Dae-ho as the team finished eighth in the regular season.

In 16 games last year, Staley had three wins, five losses and an earned run average of 4.37. In July last year, Lotte requested the KBO to announce Staley's waivers and joined hands with Aaron Wilkerson.

Strayley, who was notified of his release from the Iowa Cubs, is unlikely to be called by other clubs due to poor performance and not a few years of age.

Strayley, who is considered the best foreign pitcher in Lotte's history, will end his active career like this. 동행복권파워볼
